Led by perennial UAAP cheerdance champions University of the Philippines Pep Squad, the Philippine cheerleading team is getting ready for the 6th Cheerleading World Championships to be held in Hong Kong on November 26 and 27.
This is the first time that the country will send delegates to the competition. In 2009, the UP Pep Squad did not push through to the competition because of lack of funds.
Also composed of members from Polytechnic University of the Philippines (PUP) Stars Cheerleading Team and Centro Escolar University (CEU)Lady Scorpions, the Philippine team presented their competition routines in a send-off ceremony at UP on Sunday.
“(We feel) honored but pressured,” said Kae Madrigal, the overall captain of the Philippine Team. “There are lots of people to handle, but I still have the captains of PUP and CEU to help me out.”
The UP Pep Squad presents their Cheer Mixed category routine for the 6th Cheerleading World Championship during the send-off program at UP Diliman. PUP and CEU joins the current UAAP cheerdance champs in representing the country in the international tilt.
This time, let’s cheer for them!
